A complete guide to configuration management and orchestration with Ansible. Mastering Ansible is a step-by-step journey through Ansible training for configuration management and orchestration.

The course is designed as a journey by setting up a realistic application stack from scratch. Instead of navigating pages through Ansible documentation, topics are organized according to the growing complexity of our application when we create and reorganize it.

In addition to basic configuration concepts with Ansible, we spend time creating tools helping us maintain and troubleshoot our application. The goal is to have a workflow where all configuration and troubleshooting is done through downloadable files that can be tied to the repository and improved over time.

The course is divided into 6 sections, starting from the original installation and fundamental concepts. Starting from section 3, we create an example application environment, creating a simple structure, studying a new concept in each lecture. After starting the application, we will reorganize our installation in section 4 with an emphasis on modularity and encapsulation. In section 5, we optimize our code and learn about methods to reduce the game’s execution time. The course ends with a final section on troubleshooting and testing.

For each lecture, we introduce the new Ansible concept and apply it to our textbooks. For most lectures, we are implementing a new concept in a demo environment so that you can see how the output should look. In the notes for each lecture, you will find a link to the corresponding pages of the documentation, as well as the code at the end of this lecture.

This course was built using Ansible version 1.9.3 for a three-tier web application environment using NGINX, Apache2, Python, and MySQL on Ubuntu Linux servers. We do not consider Windows server administration in this course.

This course is designed as an introduction to Ansible, but also as a guide for engineers interested in configuration management, orchestration, code infrastructure, and devops. </ p>
